Nigerian father of 3 murdered in random attack in Canada

According to reports, a 46-year-old Nigerian man recently became the victim of a random attack in Canada.

The man identified as Nicholas Nwonye, a father of three, had only migrated from Nigeria alongside his family about 18 months before he was killed.

Nwonye was viciously attacked and stabbed to death by one Keeton Michel Gagnon, while waiting for a train at the City Hall C-train platform.

39-year-old Keeton was arrested and charged with second-degree murderar-old daughter

The deceased was said to have been an engineer in Nigeria, before abandoning it to take nursing courses at the Bow Valley College, while also working two jobs to earn a living.

One of his instructors at the nursing college, Rhonda Hersak, said:

"A very, very calm, gentle soul. He stood out, just pleasant, a very, very calm, gentle soul."

Hersak confirmed that Nwonye was the only male in her class of 38 students, she also said that he was known for raising stimulating conversations in class.

She also said his death was devastating as he didn't have life insurance, and his widow would have a hard time taking care of their three children (including their 3-month-old child).
