Check out the new super eagles kit for russia 2018 world cup
Sports manufacturers Nike on Wednesday in faraway London unveiled the Super Eagles’ home and away kits for the 2018 World Cup.
The new home shirt features a bright green-and-white zig-zag pattern spreading across the torso and the contrasting sleeves, pay homage to their USA 1994 campaign.
The away shirt is closer in resemblance to their more recent shirts with an all-over dark green design.
Nigeria are in Group D alongside Argentina, Croatia and Iceland. They are expected to wear the jersey for the first time when they face Poland in a pre-World Cup friendly on March 23.
Four days later, they will also wear the new kits for another World Cup warm-up game against Serbia in London.
Present at the unveiling, in which Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi featured as model, were skipper Obi Mikel, Leicester City pair Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho.
Iwobi as well as Lateef Omodiji and his sister Sophia, who are yet to feature for Nigeria at any age-grade level, were the Nigerian players at the ceremony who modeled in the new Super Eagles jerseys.
Reacting to the new designs, Mikel said: “I can see the players going crazy over this one.”
Ndidi also sounded excited, adding “This is cultural” in apparent reference to the patterned away kit.
“This is different, you know,” Iwobi added, while Iheanacho seemed happy with all the designs.
The Super Eagles wore Adidas jerseys at the last World Cup but the kit makers and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) parted ways soon after.
